Social Work Services
Social Workers at Step By Step Academy, Inc. (SBSA) are licensed by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage & Family Therapist Board. The Social Workers employed at Step By Step have extensive experience and knowledge in the areas of social welfare, public policy, advocacy and linkages to community resources and services.
Social Workers are trained in the area of:
- Mental health assessments
- Ongoing assessment of needs
- Development of individual service plans.
The social workers at SBSA are part of an interdisciplinary team and work in conjunction with the admissions department and clinical behavioral staff.
Social workers at SBSA:
- Provide ongoing assessment of clients and families.
- Provide Individual and/or group counseling.
- Link families to other community based crisis centers or services
- Support clients and families by attending, if requested, Individual Education Planning (IEP) meetings with clients’ local school districts
- Work collaboratively with clients’ service providers at the local county boards of developmental disabilities
- Assist families with advocating for waiver slots, adaptive equipment, respite services or in-home provider supports
- Help clients and families with medical services by collaborating with medical staff regarding pharmacological medication management.
By providing an array of services, the SBSA social work team is very involved in helping to ensure each family’s success. Social workers at SBSA take pride in being an integral part of a team of professionals that strive to assist clients and families with achieving academic and behavioral goals.
